Organization and governance
Sustainability at ˮƵ links economic activity with responsibility for staff, the environment and society. The term describes the consistent combination of economy, ecology and social affairs in the overall operating activities aimed at securing the future viability of the company.
Sustainability responsibilities in the ˮƵ Group are clearly structured. The Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) is a member of the Executive Board of ˮƵ Aktiengesellschaft and holds overall responsibility for sustainability in the ˮƵ Group, including climate-related issues. The CSO reports to the Audit/Sustainability Committee of the Supervisory Board.
The Sustainability Committee, chaired by the CSO, is ˮƵ’s central steering committee for all sustainability matters. Its members comprise representatives of the Executive Board and of the Group companies together with the Sustainability Core Implementation Team. The Sustainability Committee monitors the implementation and progress of the ˮƵ Sustainability Plan 2025.
Sustainability is one of the company’s core values and an integral part of the Group strategy.
The Sustainability corporate department brings together and coordinates sustainability activities for the ˮƵ Group. It advises the Executive Board, the corporate departments, and the operational units on sustainability issues. The Sustainability corporate department is also the point of contact for external stakeholders such as ESG investors and ESG rating agencies.
In addition, there is the Sustainability Core Implementation Team, consisting of the CSO, ESG specialists, and innovation and communication specialists. The Sustainability Core Implementation Team meets on a weekly basis and is tasked with continuously analyzing and developing the Group’s sustainability.
Each operating company in the ˮƵ divisions has a Sustainability Implementation Team. These teams ensure that the ˮƵ Sustainability Plan 2025 is put into practice across the Group and its business activities. The Sustainability Implementation Teams report to the Sustainability Core Implementation Team.
ˮƵ’s Stakeholder Management
Stakeholder involvement—whether relating to individuals or groups—plays an important role both in opportunity and risk management as well as in impact management. Construction is a people business as it brings us into close contact with numerous interest groups. We are in constant dialog with a wide range of stakeholder groups and constructively address their various demands to take them into account in our work.
Our aim here is to systematically track and give strategic consideration to major requirements and expectations in our processes. To this end, we engage with stakeholders and invite them to contribute actively in various ways.
Targets of our stakeholder management are continuous dialog with our stakeholder groups and long-term commitment to ˮƵ—the mutual feedback is aimed at enriching both sides. We define our CR ranges of topics from the analysis of important issues.
