A7/Langenfeld Bridge, Hamburg, Germany

Hamburg’s traffic authority called the construction of the eight-lane Langenfeld Bridge a top engineering feat. The work for expanding the A7 highway began in June 2014 with the demolition and new construction of Langenfeld Bridge. After a good four years’ construction time, the new bridges were completed as planned. The work on the bridge was performed not only during ongoing operation of the highway but also while rail and road traffic underneath continued. The new bridge has noise protection elements over seven meters high, which improve the quality of life of local residents with regard to traffic noise.
